A 25-acre agricultural land, bisected by a road, suffered from waterlogging and poor soil conditions, hindering crop growth. We designed a natural-edged waterbody, 'Sarassu', to address these issues.
Sarassu functions as a drainage system, diverting excess water and promoting soil porosity. Its varying depths and native vegetation create a thriving habitat for aquatic life, birds, and insects.
The project utilizes sustainable practices like legume planting to enrich the soil and enhance biodiversity. Sarassu showcases how landscape architecture can revitalize ecosystems, going beyond mere aesthetics to address critical environmental concerns and improve agricultural productivity.
